Serval x kitty = Savanna cat

This world is a crazy place. Would you buy a Serval cross kitty for $5,000? Someone thinks this is a great money making idea and Australians are getting mad. I bet the media attention will drive up the price. What a shame that none of this money will contribute to the conservation of servals in Africa where Lisa Hywood is working under extreme conditions in Zimbabwe to protect the species.

The Savanna is bigger than a domestic cat, longer legs and can leap an impressive distance – just what every celebrity needs right? Conservation organizations in Australia are trying to prevent the importation of Serval cross Tabby – is it a Tarval or a serbby? They are calling it a savanna. They say it’ll eat all the birds. Anyway, I bet nobody in Africa will benefit from what I predict will be a multi million business crossing wild animals with domestic ones to make giant pets. bengal.jpg

It’s not the first time either! Bengals, which have been bred from leopards, have been in Australia since 1996, – doesn’t this one look really happy? They say that the savannah cat, a descendant of the African serval, has been bred to produce a creature with the temperament of a domestic pet and the look of a wild cat. It will weigh in at 20 kg!

Rather than banning these cats why don’t we ban the ridiculous fashion of cross breeding these animals. What next Humanzees? The company that makes these cats is called A1 Savanna and is based in USA. I think that what they are doing is immoral and cruel, and if I had power, I’d shut them down. If you want to write to Martin and Kathryn Stucki at a1savannahs@yahoo.com, phone is 580 718 0011. Please don’t order a savanna!
